NYPD deems threats ‘not credible’ at intermediate schools on Staten Island; gun confiscated at Curtis

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The NYPD used social media to provide information about safety concerns at schools on the North and South shores of Staten Island.

Threats made on social media on Wednesday morning targeting Totten Intermediate School (I.S. 34) in Tottenville and Paulo Intermediate School (I.S. 75) in Huguenot were deemed “not credible” following an investigation, according to a post by the 123rd Precinct on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“There is no danger to the public at this time,” the post from the precinct said. “We always remind everyone please report anything that seems suspicious.”

In an unrelated post on the 120th Precinct X feed, police said that school safety agents confiscated a loaded, .45-caliber gun at a school on the North Shore of Staten Island.

The location of the school is not listed in the post, but police took a 17-year-old boy with a gun into custody at about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Curtis High School in St. George, according to a spokesman for the NYPD.

The boy, who is a student at the school, was being questioned as the investigation continued, the police spokesman said on Wednesday.

A police spokeswoman said that no arrests were made in the incident at Curtis as of Thursday morning.

A photo attached to the message shows a gun, bullets and a magazine.

This is a developing story and more information will be posted when it becomes available.
