In 2007, Ms. Baez became a member of Local 237. Earlier, she was a member of DC 37 – with a total of 37 years of city service, starting as a Dietary Aide. Ms. Baez has been a shop steward and attends chapter meetings. She says that being a union member “means a lot – it’s part of being a team. The union is always there when you need it, the benefits are great and the educational programs are wonderful.”

Mr. Figueroa became a member of Local 237 in 2009. A solid union member, Mr. Figueroa has served as a shop steward. When he describes what it means to be a union member, he says, “The union protects the rights of the members, the benefits are great and he learned a lot while being a shop steward.

Mr. Luna has been a Local 237 member since 1999. His title at that time was Special Patrolman. A solid union member, Mr. Luna believes in union membership because it ensures fair wages and really good benefits. In his words, “You can rely on the union if you need help.”
